About The Position
Nursing Assistants work closely with nurses to provide excellent direct patient care. The role supports patients with activities of daily living and helps prevent complications. This position is onsite at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York, and involves two 12-hour shifts per week, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays. A mandatory orientation consisting of one full week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., must be completed before starting work on the unit. No travel is expected.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- BLS certification; training will be provided if needed.
Nice To Haves
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA).
- Previous patient care experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with toileting, ambulating, and repositioning.
- Monitor and record fluid intake and output, patient weight, and vital signs.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Reinforce patient education, including incentive spirometer use and fall prevention.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient bedside area to ensure a safe workspace.
- Intentionally round on each patient every hour.
