Nursing Assistant-Staffing Resource Pool
About The Position
Nemours is seeking a Nursing Assistant for its Staffing Resource Pool in Wilmington, Delaware. This casual/per diem position assists with general activities of the patient care unit and supports the healthcare team in providing patient care under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse. The Nursing Assistant helps maintain a clean and safe patient care unit, assists patients with activities of daily living, collects patient specimens according to policy, and uses hospital information systems to document vital signs and patient care activities. The role also involves relaying information accurately and transporting patients, reports, and supplies to other patient units or Institute locations as needed.
Requirements
- Able to read and write accurately.
- Able to understand laboratory orders, computer information, and some medical terminology.
- Comfortable obtaining specimens, including blood specimens, from a primarily pediatric patient population that may be ill, handicapped, or restricted in some way.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 1 year of patient care experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with general activities of the patient care unit and support the healthcare team with patient care under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse.
- Ensure the patient care unit is clean and safe.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and play.
- Collect patient specimens, including blood, urine, and stool, in accordance with policy while attending to patient safety, comfort, and accurate information.
- Use Hospital Information Systems as required for patient care, including documenting vital signs and patient care activities.
- Accurately relay information from physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel, and others.
- Transport patients and deliver reports and supplies to other patient units or Institute locations as needed.
