About The Position
At Saint Francis Hospital, the Nursing Assistant assists physicians while providing exceptional treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions. This is a part-time position working 24 hours on a 12-hour day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with weekends and holidays worked as scheduled. Saint Francis Hospital is a 617-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital, and has been an anchor institution in Connecticut since 1897. It is part of Trinity Health Of New England and Trinity Health.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proof of college coursework with a transcript, or significant nurse assistant or healthcare-related experience.
- BLS certification.
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of a Connecticut-approved Nurse Aide Training Program, or in the process of earning a bachelor's degree in Nursing or Health Sciences with at least one clinical completed.
- Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities
- Collect and report patient information and data.
- Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, diet, fluid intake, skin care, bathing and dressing, positioning, transfers, mobility, and ambulation.
- Transport patients.
- Collect specimens.
- Distribute linens and supplies to patient rooms.
- Deliver ice and beverages to patients.
- As assigned, stay with at-risk patients to monitor patient safety.
