About The Position

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communication in English
  • Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Apprenticeship Program
  • Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will-Train program
  • Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train program, successful passage of the Falmouth Hospital written competency exam for Nursing Assistant
  • Must meet at least one of the following qualifications: Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program, Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Successful completion of an EMT Program, Successful completed of an LPN Program, Equivalent clinical Military experience, Completed at least one year of an accredited Nursing School Program, Successful completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train or Trainee program
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification
  • Successful passage of CPI training within 6 months from hire and must maintain recertification annually

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Identify and locate needed accessories to facilitate transport.
  • Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and non-invasive specimen collection.
  • Answering call lights.
  • Making beds both empty and occupied.
  • Turning and positioning patients, range of motion, ambulation, and toiletry.
  • Assistance with all ADL's and complete care as needed.
  • Setting up, assisting and educating patients with commodes, bedpans, urinals, sitz baths, walkers, wheelchairs, slings, knee mobilizes, knee immobilizers, trapeze, venodyne boots, crutches, and specific precautions.
  • Appropriate emptying and/or recording of all drainage devices.
  • Setting up all equipment routinely used on their home base units.
  • Preparing room for admission.
  • Removal of linens.
  • Light maintenance defined as not needing tools and within the patient rooms.
  • Stocking of floor pantry.
  • Answering telephone.
  • Must wear facility provided identification badge.
  • Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested by immediate supervisor.
