Nursing Assistant Trainee - PT

Sanford Health•Blackduck, MN

About The Position

The Nursing Assistant Trainee participates in a formal learning program designed to build the confidence and competence needed to provide personal care to clients. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in partnership with a preceptor, the trainee provides holistic, client-centered care that promotes independence and client rights in a safe, caring, and efficient manner. The trainee works within the non-certified nursing assistant role and must complete all training requirements within the designated timeframe. Trainees may perform services only after they have been trained and found proficient by the instructor. The program uses a hybrid format with online coursework and hands-on skills development, and prepares participants to take state knowledge and skills examinations for CNA or other applicable state certification. As a member of the nursing team, the trainee follows location-specific standards for infection prevention and control, personal protective equipment, safety, and privacy. The trainee works with clients and families to support physical, cognitive, spiritual, emotional, and social needs; provides age-appropriate care as outlined in the care plan; assists the care team and documents care when appropriate; and reports changes in client condition or care concerns to a licensed nurse. The position also supports activities of daily living and other personal care, mobility, meals, and assigned housekeeping and laundry duties.
