About The Position

Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and the California Nurse Practice Act as well as evidence-based standards of care, this position provides basic care to patients and assists professional nurses, compiling patient care up to the validated level of training. Eisenhower has been a leader in health care for the Coachella Valley since 1971, steadily growing and adding services, capabilities, and facilities to meet the needs of the expanding area. The Eisenhower name extends beyond the state-of-the-art care delivered at the hospital.

Requirements

Enrolled full time in an accredited associate’s degree in nursing (ADN or ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or direct entry master’s in nursing program and completed first semester of program
Most recent transcript
GPA of 3.0 or higher
One (1) professional reference letter from current clinical instructor
American Heart Association BLS
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations
Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information
Ability to operate general office equipment (i.e., computer, printer, scanner, telephone, etc.)
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
Fine motor skills
Written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
Adheres to the evidence-based standards of care and standards of practice, policies and procedures of the hospital and the Department of Nursing.
Provides safe, effective patient care including but not limited to ADLs, mobility and safety concerns.
Assists patients with personal care needs such as bathing, dressing, feeding, elimination, positioning and bed linen changes.
Assists with admitting, discharging, transferring and transporting patients.
Obtains and accurately documents pertinent patient information including but not limited to vital signs, weights, Inputs and Outputs, oxygen saturation, care observation and reports all abnormalities to the RN in a timely manner.
Instructs patients in various basic procedures and communicates effectively with the patient and family members; provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition utilizing computerized documentation.
Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Prioritize tasks and job assignments.
Researches and coordinates information and distributes accordingly.
Understands the various procedures within the department.
Maintains enrollment in a nursing program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
