About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital Birmingham is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Nursing Assistants play a central role in providing compassionate care to patients throughout their recovery. This full-time position is located on the third floor of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, and works days from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Compensation is $16.41 to $20.00 per hour, based on years of experience. Competitive shift differentials are offered for nights and weekends. Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or at least three years of relevant work experience.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Hospital experience as a nursing assistant.
Nursing assistant certification.
Experience in a related field, such as medical assisting.
Active enrollment as an RN student.

Responsibilities

Provide patient services including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
Participate in hourly rounds.
Transport patients to and from treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters with moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
Clean instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
