About The Position

This position is within the Maintenance Division of the Airports Department and is responsible for the routine care and maintenance of nursery stock and equipment. The role involves planting, preparing beds, fertilizing, mowing, pruning, operating water trucks, and maintaining tools and equipment. The employee works under the direction of an immediate supervisor, completing tasks independently or as part of a crew, with work inspected at the supervisor's discretion.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and skill in applying general plant care.
• Knowledge of and skill in using standard garden tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of and skill in following safe working practices and procedures.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
• Possession of a valid driver license (Operator).

Responsibilities

• Planting and transplanting seeds, bulbs and cuttings
• Preparing, cleaning and weeding flower beds
• Fertilizing, mowing, and edging grounds
• Pruning trees and shrubs
• Operating water trucks or various other vehicles to facilitate plant care
• Routine cleaning and maintenance of hand tools and equipment
