Nurse (per diem)
About The Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse works at an outpatient treatment program within the Middlesex House of Correction in Billerica, Massachusetts. This per diem role requires working every Monday and a total of three shifts per month to remain per diem. The hourly rate is $36.50 for an LPN or $38.50 for an RN, with a $3.00-per-hour weekend differential. The nurse administers medications according to medication administration policy; controls, counts, and documents onsite medication; and educates clients about medication-assisted treatment, including medication use, purpose, and side effects. The nurse also verifies medication orders with the physician, transcribes physician orders, and assists with admissions by documenting substance-use diagnoses as required.
Requirements
- Must hold a Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Must have a current CPR certificate or obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must use appropriate independent judgment to determine an appropriate course of action when resolving problems and responding to emergencies.
- Must communicate effectively in writing and orally in an interdisciplinary, culturally diverse setting with clients, families, staff, and regulatory agencies.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the substance abuse or mental health field, or in an acute-care inpatient healthcare environment, is preferred.
Responsibilities
