About The Position

Ethical Culture Fieldston School is seeking an experienced Nurse for its Ethical Culture Division for the 26/27 School year. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) starting on September 1, 2026. The role involves providing comprehensive care for students, including those with chronic illnesses and acute injuries, administering medications, maintaining health records, and communicating with families and staff. The nurse will also be involved in emergency response, health education, and collaborating with the Student Support & Wellness team. This is an onsite role.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in nursing
  • Current New York State RN License
  • Current certification in AHA or equivalent CPR/AED
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills
  • The ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with faculty, administrators, students, parents, and the overall community

  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Providing routine and emergency triage, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and caring for student-patients with acute injuries/illnesses and or student-patients with long term care needs including diabetes, allergy, asthma, and seizures
  • Administering routine and emergency medications to students with comprehensive documentation
  • Maintaining and reviewing virtual health forms, including physicals, eye examinations, consent forms, and immunization records
  • Communicating pertinent medical and health information to families
  • Assessing student health concerns on an individual and division-wide basis, and deliver medical care, intervention, and community education as needed
  • Referring students and families for appropriate follow-up medical care and continue to partner with families on ongoing issues
  • Preparing documentation and supplies to accompany day and overnight trips
  • Overseeing medical emergency response protocols
  • Understanding child abuse and maltreatment reporting requirements and processes
  • Working in partnership with the Student Support & Wellness team to ensure students are treated with a whole-child approach
  • Maintaining the integrity of patient health information with the utmost confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and school policies
  • Maintaining nursing office supplies, answering phone calls and emails, maintaining paperwork and treatment/clinical notes, and communicating with the divisional main offices on attendance matters
  • Having a collaborative approach with other colleagues, including sharing resources
  • Appropriately addressing student behavioral issues and other challenges that may arise in order to maintain a safe environment and a sense of calm in such situations
  • Attending all departmental, divisional, and school-wide meetings as required
  • Maintaining compliance with all school policies, state regulations, and educational standards
  • Performing other related projects and duties as needed and assigned
