About The Position

The Nurse Technician provides patient care within the scope of practice under the supervision and direction of an Oklahoma State Licensed Nurse. The role implements the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and procedures to help increase patient functional status. This position is in the Emergency Center at the Muskogee Campus and works full time on nights, with shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on a variable schedule that includes weekends. The position is identified as safety-sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of the Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Technician Training Program or a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
0–6 months of related experience; previous healthcare-related experience will be considered.
Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
Attention to detail when documenting numerical data.

Responsibilities

Provide basic patient care to an assigned group of patients.
Perform procedural tasks and assist with activities of daily living, taking patients’ age and cultural and psychosocial factors into consideration.
Observe and accurately and promptly report patients’ conditions, activities, and needs to a licensed nurse.
Demonstrate specialty skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient population.
Perform technical procedures on the unit-specific skills checklist as delegated by the Licensed Nurse.
Document data according to unit and hospital policy; legibly and accurately record treatments or procedures, intake and output, vital signs, and other data.
Support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities; attend mandatory in-services and meet unit educational standards.
Complete variance reports accurately.
Adjust behavior or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
Perform environmental activities and assigned housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and orderly patient room or unit.
Complete assigned unit duties and transport patients, food, supplies, equipment, and specimens as needed.
