The Nurse Technician works as a team member in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This fast-paced direct-care role requires strong communication and teamwork skills. The position is on 6 North, a cardiovascular inpatient unit at Butterworth Hospital serving adults with heart failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, pulmonary hypertension, and other cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Duties may also include postmortem care. The technician cleans patient environments, work areas, and equipment; reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel; demonstrates high ethical standards; and advocates for the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data. Orientation requires weekday flexibility for six weeks before transitioning to regular night shifts. Week 1 includes classroom orientation from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Weeks 2–4 include nursing-unit orientation shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Weeks 3–6 include Monday classroom orientation from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for Advanced Safety Care and two additional nursing-floor training days with a preceptor.
