About The Position
The Nurse Tech works under the supervision of a nurse and follows hospital policies and procedures to perform nursing care tasks and treatments for assigned patients. The role includes routine bedside care, such as bathing and grooming patients, ambulating and repositioning them, assisting with bedpans or urinary devices, making beds, and caring for personal property. The Nurse Tech may also assist with additional nursing procedures. The position is on 8 South Neuro, a 52-bed progressive/medical-surgical unit and comprehensive Stroke-certified unit. The unit cares for patients with acute strokes and those undergoing neurosurgical interventions, including craniotomies, spine procedures, and VP shunts, and includes a four-bed epilepsy monitoring unit. The fast-paced unit offers learning opportunities and a foundation in nursing for new graduates.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in and attending an accredited school of registered nursing; applicants may be enrolled in an accredited BSN or ADN program.
- Provide evidence of successful completion of adult medical-surgical rotations, including both theory and clinical.
- Current BLS certification.
- Provide transcripts at the time of hire; transcripts may be requested for review periodically.
- ADN graduates must sign a BSN completion agreement upon hire or placement in a graduate nurse position.
- Applicants may be an RN from another state awaiting Michigan licensure, or a graduate nurse from an accredited nursing school awaiting NCLEX results or a retake.

Responsibilities
