About The Position
The Nurse Tech position is for an adaptable progressive neuro unit, 8 South, which is a 52-bed comprehensive stroke certified unit. This unit provides a strong foundation in nursing for new graduates, focusing on acute strokes, neurosurgical interventions (such as craniotomies, spine procedures, and VP shunts), and includes a 4-bed epilepsy monitoring unit. The unit is fast-paced and offers numerous learning opportunities. Royal Oak Hospital is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the #2 hospital in Michigan and a top hospital nationally, serving as a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. It has achieved Magnet designation four consecutive times and houses Michigan’s first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled and attending an accredited school of registered nursing.
- May be enrolled in an (accredited) Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) or Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Program.
- ADN graduates will be required to sign a BSN completion agreement upon hire/placement in a graduate nurse position.
- RN from another state awaiting Michigan Licensure or Graduate Nurse from accredited school of nursing awaiting retake of NCLEX or awaiting results of the last exam.
- Transcripts must be provided at the time of hire and may be requested for review periodically.
- Requires evidence of successful completion of adult medical-surgical rotations – theory and clinical.
- Requires current BLS certification.

Responsibilities
- Under supervision of a Nurse and following hospital policies and procedures, performs various nursing care tasks and treatments on assigned patients.
- Performs routine bedside nursing activities including bathing and personal grooming of patients.
- Assists with ambulating, moving, and turning patients.
- Assists patients with bedpans or urinary devices.
- Makes patient beds and cares for personal property.
- Assists in performing additional nursing procedures.
