About The Position

The Nurse Technician works in the Big Rapids Emergency Department, a community-based hospital department within the Corewell Healthcare System. The ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center and Level IV Trauma Center with 20 treatment spaces and more than 27,000 visits annually. Interdisciplinary team members work together to provide relationship-based care and support patient experience, throughput, teamwork, culture, and process improvement.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Technician contributes to quality patient care. The role also includes maintaining clean patient and work environments, reporting equipment malfunctions, following high ethical standards, and protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational information.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care as a team member under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
• Provide bed baths, assist with ambulation, perform wound care and catheterization, and act as a patient safety attendant.
• Clean patient environments, work areas, and equipment.
• Communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high moral and ethical standards.
• Advocate for the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
