About The Position

The Nurse Technician works in the Big Rapids Hospital Emergency Department, a community-based department within the Corewell Healthcare System. The ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center and Level IV Trauma Center, with 20 places to treat patients experiencing minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. The interdisciplinary team collaborates to provide relationship-based care for patients and their loved ones.

Nurse Technicians contribute to quality patient care as members of the care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes assisting with patient care, maintaining clean and safe patient-care areas and equipment, and protecting patient, staff, and organizational information. This is a part-time position with day-shift hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., 24 scheduled hours per week, variable workdays, and every third weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care as a team member under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
• Assist with bed bathing and ambulation.
• Provide wound care and catheterization.
• Act as a safety attendant for patients.
• Clean patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment.
• Communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior.
• Advocate for the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
