About The Position

As a Nursing Technician with Corewell Health, you will provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider. You will perform basic nursing skills, observe patients, and communicate observations to other team members. The position is in the Emergency Center at Lakeland Hospital St Joseph and is full-time, with 36 scheduled hours per week. The shift is 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM on variable days, including every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, required within 90 days, or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross, required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider; document accurately and promptly.
• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN or Provider, following clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work; contribute to individualized care plans and complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
• Explain the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members, and support safe, quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Clean patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high moral and ethical standards and advocate for the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
