Nurse Tech Float Pool
About The Position
The Nurse Tech Float Pool team member floats to different areas of Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, including the Emergency Department and Med Surg. These fast-paced settings provide opportunities to gain knowledge and experience across a variety of areas. The Nurse Tech acts as a member of the patient-care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, performing basic skills according to department guidelines and communicating observations to the health care team. The role includes collecting and reporting information about patients’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. The Nurse Tech also completes required documentation accurately and on time. This is a full-time, night-shift position with 36 scheduled hours per week. Hours are 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, with days worked Sunday through Saturday and every third weekend.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program.
Responsibilities
- Float to different areas of Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, including the Emergency Department and Med Surg.
- Deliver quality patient care as a team member under the supervision of an RN or Provider.
- Perform basic skills in accordance with department guidelines.
- Communicate observations to members of the health care team.
- Collect and report patients’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
- Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
- Provide bed baths, assist with ambulation, and perform wound care and catheterization.
- Act as a safety attendant for patients.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
