About The Position

The Nurse Tech assists licensed personnel in providing direct nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). This role involves collecting, recording, and reporting accurate patient information, performing routine procedures, and delivering basic care. The Nurse Tech is expected to provide service with sensitivity and respect for patient needs, respond to call lights promptly, and complete assigned tasks efficiently. Compliance with department service standards such as purposeful rounding, bedside shift report, and white board management is crucial for enhancing customer communication. Effective communication with the healthcare team is essential for promoting team functioning, and the role requires actively seeking feedback for improvement. The Nurse Tech contributes to customer experience goals, accesses necessary supplies and medications, and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals, including using two patient identifiers.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse program with successful completion of hands-on clinical coursework.
  • May remain in role up to one (1) year after graduation from nursing program OR Licensure as a RN or LPN is obtained OR NCLEX exam is failed two (2) times or more.

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
  • Must meet unit-specific care requirements.
  • Ability to speak and understand verbal and written instructions in the English language.
  • Ability to focus and prioritize multiple activities.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, records, and reports accurate patient information.
  • Performs routine procedures competently, delivering basic care to patients as directed by RN.
  • Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their expectations, age, cultural and individual needs.
  • Responds to call lights and completes other assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Complies consistently and effectively with department service standards such as purposeful rounding, bedside shift report, and white board management to enhance customer communication.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team to promote effective team functioning; actively seeks feedback and coaching to improve customer experience.
  • Contributes to the customer experience goals as evidenced by positive patient experience scores/comments and/or other written compliments.
  • Accesses rooms that contain IV solutions, authorized medications and supplies as needed for patient care responsibilities.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals (i.e. use of 2 patient identifiers) when accessing patient information and in performing job duties.
