About The Position

As a Nursing Technician with Corewell Health, you provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider. You perform basic nursing skills, observe patients, and communicate observations to other members of the care team. The role is in the Med Surg Care Unit Oncology A 3 at Lakeland Hospital St Joseph. The position is full-time, with 36 scheduled hours per week, working day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on variable days and every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, required within 90 days; or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross, required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by an RN or Provider.
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Provide direct patient care under the direction of an RN or Provider, following clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work.
• Provide input into the development of an individualized plan of care.
• Explain the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members.
• Support safe, quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Clean the patient’s environment, work area, and equipment, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high moral and ethical standards and advocate for the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
