About The Position

We are looking for a professional who thrives in a team environment, yet works well independently, to support the Department of Health and Human Service’s mission to promote health and safety for all Maine people. This position involves leading a team of surveyors to conduct inspections and investigate complaint allegations in acute-level providers such as hospitals, hospices, and ambulatory surgical centers. The role includes interviewing complainants and witnesses, performing record reviews and observations, and writing detailed reports known as “Statements of Deficiencies” that outline regulatory non-compliance. While the role is titled Team Coordinator, it does not involve annual performance reviews or other direct supervisory duties. The position requires statewide travel and occasional overnight stays, with the possibility of conducting early morning, night, or weekend survey work.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of nursing and/or in the delivery of health care services
  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine as issued by the State Board of Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of surveyors as you conduct inspections and investigate complaint allegations in acute-level providers such as hospitals, hospices, ambulatory surgical centers, and others
  • Interview complainants and witnesses to obtain information regarding complaint allegations
  • Perform record reviews and observations in facilities
  • Write reports known as “Statements of Deficiencies,” which outline the rules/regulations that the facility failed to follow
  • Assist your team members to ensure Statements of Deficiencies comply with the requirements set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”)
  • Participate in training, including mandatory online training required by CMS
  • Ensure that facilities comply with both federal and State licensing requirements
