About The Position

Murdoch Developmental Center is seeking a Nurse Supervisor I (NSI) for Newport Cottage, which serves 23 males in 2 living units, with ages ranging from 20 to 67 years. Behavior management is a key aspect of programming, with a focus on behavioral medication management and promoting independence with medications. The person-centered philosophy aims to assist individuals in attaining skills for independent functioning in the least restrictive environment, fostering a safe, homelike atmosphere with opportunities for work, relaxation, and recreation. The primary role of the NSI is to provide administrative and clinical supervision for 8 nursing positions. This includes supervising full-time licensed nurses (RN and LPN), collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, providing professional guidance on healthcare services, administering medications/treatments, ensuring minimum nursing coverage, assessing nursing needs, coordinating healthcare provision, monitoring quality assurance, planning resource utilization, training staff, and collaborating with Nursing Administration to meet the needs of those served. This position is designated as mandatory and requires reporting or staying over during adverse weather events.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Two years of nursing experience.
  • Must be able to pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Must have a valid Driver License.
