About The Position

Atrium Health (AH) Navicent Medical Center is a nationally recognized academic medical center, Level I Trauma Center, and Magnet®-designated hospital for nursing. Serving 30 counties and nearly 750,000 people, it is Georgia’s second-largest hospital, licensed for 637 beds across pediatrics, medical-surgical, trauma, and cardiac surgery services. Its Emergency Department, supported by helipad capability and three urgent care centers, treats more than 140,000 patients annually. AH Navicent also serves as the primary academic hospital for Mercer University School of Medicine, supporting residency and fellowship training for more than 100 residents and partnering with multiple universities as a clinical education site. AH Navicent Trauma Services is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead the Process Improvement Program for its high-volume trauma department. This RN Program Manager will oversee all aspects of the clinical trauma process improvement program, ensure ongoing compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) regulatory standards, and support continued trauma verification. The role is responsible for achieving outcomes aligned with the organization’s mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives while maintaining professional competency in trauma clinical care, promoting a safe environment, and performing all job responsibilities safely. Ideal candidates will bring emergency department and leadership experience, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with physicians, hospital staff, and administrative teams. Highly organized, detail-oriented candidates with a strong passion for trauma services are strongly preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Trauma registry course, AIS coding course, Society of Trauma Nurses' TOPIC course completion required within 18 months of hire.
• Current membership in a national or regional trauma organization.
• 5 years clinical experience required.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field preferred
• Current licensure as RN/NP/PA preferred
• 3-5 years' experience in direct or indirect clinical trauma care at a state designated and/or ACS verified Trauma Center with demonstrated competencies preferred (i.e., prehospital, aero medical program, or acute trauma care).
• Trauma related continuing education required annually to meet ACS standards.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the trauma continuum of care along with the Trauma Medical Director and the support of the Director of the Trauma Program.
• Supports programs which promote optimal quality of trauma care for adults and children.
• Assures all trauma center accreditation standards are met as required by the state's trauma system.
• Works closely with the Trauma leaders to prepare for ACS program surveys.
• Leads the trauma performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) program with the monitoring of trauma clinical processes, trauma patient outcomes and system issues related to the quality, appropriateness, and timeliness of care.
• Coordinates multi-disciplinary trauma meetings as required by the Trauma PI Plan.
• Analyzes the trauma PIPS program and plan (as defined in Trauma PIPS Plan) to identify priority areas of PIPS activity.
• Provides input with budgetary process for the trauma program.
• Coordinates development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines.
• Provides educational opportunities for clinical staff development.
• Serves as a liaison to administration and represents the trauma program on hospital, regional and state committees to enhance trauma care.
• With the Trauma leaders, provides input and feedback on the trauma registry data collection process, validity, and contributes to ongoing review and update of the Trauma Data Quality Plan.
• Organizes ongoing analysis of applicable state Quality Improvement Program and Trauma Quality Improvement Program findings to identify activities where quality and efficiency of trauma care may be improved.
• Coordinates efforts to promote the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based practice management guidelines to reduce variance in care, decrease length-of-stay, improve care quality, and reduce costs.
• Communicates effectively with associated departments to develop cooperative relationships.
