About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager (NM), the Nurse RN Charge directs, coordinates, and controls the nursing activities of his or her assigned staff. This role assists the NM in evaluating assigned staff and completing assigned projects. The Nurse RN Charge provides care for a group of patients utilizing the Nursing Process and may also provide nursing care to patients in select phases of Perioperative care based on demonstrated competencies. Assignments are performed appropriately to the age and developmental level of patients being served. This role is responsible for maintaining nursing schedules and the orientation of new employees.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Completion of the OB RN Surgical Scrub Competencies training course.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.
  • ACLS required at hire for Code Blue Team.
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer for 2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA, 3N Obstetrics, and Labor and Delivery.
  • PALS required within 6 months for hire or transfer for Code Blue team.
  • NRP required within 6 months of hire or transfer for Code Blue team, 2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA, 3N Obstetrics, and Labor and Delivery.
  • STABLE-sugar, temp, airway, BP, lab work, emotional support requirement.
  • Current employees are required to have STABLE by 07/01/2019 and must renew it every two (2) years.
  • New hires and transfers are required to have STABLE within 6 months of hire or transfer and must renew it every two (2) years.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience.
  • Adheres to hospital and Florida Nurse Practice Act guidelines in providing patient care.
  • Familiar with patient care equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position (for new hires effective June 14, 2017).
  • BSN
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced by 07/01/2019 and must renew it every two (2) years (for current employees in specific units).
  • AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced within one (1) year of hire or transfer and must renew it every two (2) years (for new hires and transfers in specific units).
