Requirements

BSN Degree, Masters in Nursing preferred
CWOCN required
State Issued RN license
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Minimum 2 year’ experiences as a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse.

Nice To Haves

1 Year of supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

Partners with patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in identifying learning needs and priorities and provides education in ways that is useful, understandable and affirming.
In this role, teaching and support is given to the patient and/or caregiver.
She/He provides care for stomas, complex wounds, fistulae, pressure ulcers, and fecal and urinary incontinence.
The CWON or CWOCN Nurse provides specialized knowledge and skill to assist physicians and nursing staff with the management and teaching of patients with complex skin care needs, and guidance for selection of related product formulary.
Integrates evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patients, their family/designated care partner(s) preferences and cultural beliefs and values for delivery of optimal health care.
