NURSE PRACTITIONER
About The Position
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, patient care planning, and prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment for mental health and/or substance issues. The practitioner may also complete Utilization Review calls on behalf of physicians and provide services at the partial hospitalization program. Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion-free psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Its 60-acre campus includes outdoor spaces and walking paths, seven living units organized by gender, age, and developmental needs, and recreational facilities. The center provides 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17, using customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to help patients moderate behavior, manage emotions, and improve social functioning.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas.
- At least two years of direct clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct psychiatric patient care, including assessment and diagnosis.
- Develop patient care plans.
- Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for mental health and/or substance issues.
- Complete Utilization Review calls on behalf of physicians, as needed.
- Provide services at the partial hospitalization program.
