Summary/Objective: The Nurse Practitioner Provides healthcare services to the patient(s) under direction and supervision of the Physician.

Requirements

  • Graduate of nationally accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant organization.
  • Must have previous experience as Mid-Level Provider in the field of certification (i.e. Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner).
  • Certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by a nationally accredited organization.
  • Have an active license in the State of Tennessee as a Mid-Level Provider (i.e. Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner).
  • Nurse Practitioners must have an active RN and APRN license.
  • Must have a DEA number issued by the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration.
  • Individual must be BLS trained and certified at all times.
  • Must be PC literate.
  • As part of the Galen Medical Group, the applicant must be a team player and provide excellent customer service while assessing our patients needs efficiently.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Galen Medical policies, HIPAA and OSHA standards.
  • Galen Medical Group is a member of the TN Drug-Free Workplace and it is a requirement that we conduct a pre-employment drug screen, as part of the hiring process.

  • 3 -5 year's experience in internal med/primary care setting is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Interprets and integrates medical data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
  • Administers or orders, and interprets diagnostic tests as needed for appropriate patient care.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infections.
  • Prepares appropriate written prescription orders in accordance with DEA guidelines in dispensing or prescribing medication as necessary to treat the patients medical needs.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth, and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living and health maintenance.
  • Performs surgical and/or diagnostic procedures in a hospital, office and/or ambulatory setting under the supervision of a Physician.
  • Routinely visits in-patients for the purpose of examination and compilation of data for the physician in attendance, if applicable.
  • Must maintain Mid-Level Provider certification, license and continuing medical education requirements at all times.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with Galen clinical policies and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain professional communication skills between employee, patient, physicians and other facilities.
  • Make recommendations for any improvements in the operation of the clinical system.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.
  • Function as a relief for other personnel in the office as appropriate and to facilitate co-workers absence in the office.
  • Recognize and demonstrate cost-effective measures in the utilization of supplies, equipment, and other resources.
  • Maintain the strictest confidentiality of all company records, including verbal and written records.
  • Other duties as assigned by Regional Manager and Physicians.
