About The Position

The Johns Hopkins Reproductive Mental Health Center is seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our women’s mental health team in a clinical and research setting. The majority of the practice is reproductive psychiatry (pregnancy, postpartum, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, perimenopause), with some general women’s mental health cases. The candidate must be comfortable working in a team environment and possess strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

• Master's Degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse license, and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland or another state where practicing and current CPR certification is required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during the duration of employment.
• Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to the start date.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Nice To Haves

• Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). One (1) year of professional experience. Exceptional new graduates will be considered.
• Willing to work toward a license as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland and be able to obtain a license within three years of hire.
• Experience in women’s mental health is preferred but is not required, as on-site training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess new patients independently and work with attending psychiatrists to determine management when necessary.
• Conduct follow-up medication management visits for ongoing patients.
• Provide patient education and brief supportive psychotherapy when appropriate and refer patients for additional psychotherapy as needed.
• Work with inpatient consult service, local obstetric offices, and our medical office coordinator to ensure timely evaluations for urgent cases.
• Respond to telephone requests from existing patients of the team (including a weekly resident clinic), which may include assisting with paperwork or benefits, assessing new mental health needs that arise between appointments, or coordinating with prescribing physicians about new prescription needs.
• Systematically track treatment response and monitor patients (in person or by telephone) for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications.
• Work with physicians to create and disseminate educational materials for use in our office and in obstetric settings.
