About The Position

Nova Scotia Health is seeking graduate Nurse Practitioners who will be completing their studies in the next 12 months to join their organization. Nova Scotia Health's mission is to achieve excellence in health, healing, and learning through working together. Nurse Practitioners are a vital resource in the healthcare system, practicing autonomously and collaborating with professionals and teams. The NP diagnoses, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, prescribes pharmaceuticals, and performs procedures within their scope of practice. They provide direct care, partner with the healthcare team, and work in close collaboration with Physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The NP adheres to the NSCN Standards for Nursing Practice and the Code of Ethics, and is accountable for their practice. They are also responsible for identifying, analyzing, and evaluating activities that reflect quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Practice autonomously and collaborate as appropriate with professionals and teams in mutual support.
  • Diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform procedures within the legislated scope of practice.
  • Provide direct care and partner with other members of the health care team.
  • Work in close collaboration with Physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adhere to the NSCN Standards for Nursing Practice and the Code of Ethics.
  • Be responsible and accountable at all times for their own practice consistent with relevant legislation, and professional, and ethical standards.
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate activities that are reflective of quality improvement initiatives.
