About The Position

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner for an urgent care setting. This is a locum position to provide coverage for 3 days per week, starting upon credentialing until a permanent hire is secured. The clinic operates 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM, with shifts expected to be 12 hours or longer, dependent on patient flow. The patient population ranges from birth to end of life, and the role is 100% outpatient care. Daily patient volume averages between 25 to 50 patients, with increased traffic anticipated during cold and flu seasons. The Nurse Practitioner will manage episodic care and transfer higher acuity cases to higher-level care facilities. Documentation will be completed using the Epic EMR system. Credentialing is anticipated to take between 60 to 90 days, and temporary staffing is not available.

Requirements

Board Certification (mandatory)
Active Virginia medical license (mandatory)
Current BLS certification (mandatory)
Active DEA registration (mandatory)
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an emergency department, primary care, or urgent care setting (mandatory)
Clean professional background (no malpractice or licensing issues; no exceptions)

Responsibilities

Perform laceration repair (simple, intermediate, complex)
Perform incision and drainage (including packing)
Perform foreign body removal
Manage minor burns
Provide skin lesion care
Stabilize orthopedic injuries (splinting, casting, joint reduction)
Perform diagnostic and point-of-care testing
Interpret X-rays
Evaluate Electrocardiograms (EKGs)
Interpret point-of-care lab results (e.g., rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, blood glucose)
Manage epistaxis (anterior nasal packing or chemical cautery)
Perform cerumen impaction removal
Provide airway support (e.g., administration of nebulizer treatments, initial emergency stabilization)
Utilize Epic EMR system for documentation
