Nurse Practitioner (NP, APN) - FT Day
About The Position
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines, under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians. The NP ensures necessary service documentation is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor clinical services. The NP communicates scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and arranges coverage when unavailable for an extended period. The typical schedule is four days per week, nine hours each. Scheduling flexibility is required to rotate hours and shifts when needed and to provide coverage during emergencies. This position is available only to people who reside in the United States.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Advanced degree from an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of employment, maintained throughout employment.
- Current CPR certification, maintained throughout employment.
- Patience and tact in dealing with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in a corrections environment.
- Scheduling flexibility to rotate hours and shifts as needed and provide coverage during emergencies.
- Must reside in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience.
- Corrections experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds.
- Maintain accurate and legible progress-note documentation in SOAP format and adhere to formulary guidelines.
- Respond to emergencies and make logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals.
- Support existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide input into facility committees as requested.
- Ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee.
- Communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A., and arrange coverage for medical services when unavailable for an extended period.
