About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for Employee Health (SMH) to join a collaborative team. This full-time position involves combining Employee Health and Workers Compensation injury/illness skills in the care of hospital employees and their affiliate institutions. The role focuses on evidence-based practice and NYS Workers Compensation medical treatment guidelines. Responsibilities include onboarding physical exams, treatment for blood borne pathogen exposures, work-related contagion exposures, company-requested evaluations, and longitudinal treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses. This includes medication management, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and making referrals for treatments such as physical therapy, chiropractic care, specialist consultations, and disability evaluations. There are also opportunities for patient, employer, and staff education. The role requires independent work with collaboration as needed with network-based physicians.

Requirements

  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing
  • Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner
  • NYS NP licensure and AANP/ANCC national certification is required prior to start date
  • Clinical competence
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills
  • Computer competence
  • An active desire to learn
  • The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

Nice To Haves

  • An NP with 2 or more years of adult NP experience is preferred
  • New graduates will be considered
