About The Position

Under general supervision, and in collaboration with physician colleagues, responsible for diagnosing and treating patients. Provides continuity of patient care by facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient’s family. Coordinates care to ensure quality, effective care and patient safety. Looking for NP to join University of Maryland Continence and Pelvic Health Center.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program
  • Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland
  • DEA and CDS eligible
  • CPR required
  • ACLS/BCLS as required
  • A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse is required

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive history and physical assessment of patients; complete intake prior to patient meeting with the physician
  • Order, obtain and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests; experience performing urodynamic tests
  • Conduct courtesy follow-up postoperative calls to patients
  • Manage in-basket, return patient calls daily, prescription refills
  • Establish medical diagnosis based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings with MD collaboration as needed
  • Design, order, document and communicate appropriate treatment plans
  • Counsel and educate patients and family members
  • Participate in mentoring activities; precept students
  • Function as a clinical resource for other team members
  • Provide community education, health promotion and outreach
  • Demonstrates ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs
  • Demonstrates highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters.
  • Maintains updated mandatory training
  • Updates immunizations as recommended per practice area
