About The Position

This role is for a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Orthopedic Surgery in Buffalo, MN. The position is a Locum Tenens role within a hospital setting, focusing on clinical duties only. The coverage period is from April 1, 2027, to September 16, 2027. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with specific clinic and administrative days. The Nurse Practitioner will manage a patient volume of 20-25 patients per day in the clinic, seeing mostly teenage and adult patients. Responsibilities include rounding, assisting in orthopedic surgeries, and performing procedures such as casting, splinting, and joint injections. The reason for coverage is a military leave.

Requirements

• Active MN license (PA or NP)
• Board certification in specialty (MN Board of Medical Practice or equivalent)
• DEA required
• BLS Tier 1 – Basic Life Support required within 180 days
• Certification as Physician Assistant (NCCPA) or Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) required upon hire
• Minimum 1+ year experience
• 1+ year OR experience required
• CSR (Controlled Substance Registration) required

Nice To Haves

• Prior orthopedic/sports medicine experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide orthopedic surgical assistance in the OR, including first assist for total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and various orthopedic surgeries.
• Manage clinic patient visits, seeing 20-25 patients per day for orthopedic consultations and follow-ups.
• Perform casting, splinting, DME application, and joint injections as needed.
• Conduct rounding on patients in the mornings and occasional weekends.
• Administer and coordinate care in collaboration with attending physicians and support staff.
