About The Position

This is a Locum Tenens position for a Physician Assistant specializing in Orthopedic Surgery in Buffalo, MN. The coverage period is from April 1, 2027, to September 16, 2027. The role involves clinical duties in an orthopedic setting, including seeing 20-25 patients per day in clinic, performing procedures such as casting, splinting, DME application, and joint injections. The Physician Assistant will also provide first assist in the operating room for various orthopedic procedures, including total joint replacements and fracture repairs. Additionally, rounding on patients in the hospital setting is required, along with administrative duties on designated days. The patient population includes orthopedic patients, primarily teenage and adult, with no age restrictions.

Requirements

• Active MN license (PA or NP)
• Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner board upon hire
• DEA required
• BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support required within 180 days
• NCCPA certification upon hire
• Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) or equivalent PA certification within specialty upon hire
• 1+ year experience
• 1+ year OR experience required
• Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) required

Nice To Haves

• Prior Orthopedic/sports medicine experience preferred

Responsibilities

• First assist in OR for total joint replacements, fracture repairs, foot/ankle, shoulder, knee, hip, hand/wrist, and general orthopedic procedures
• Provide clinical coverage in clinic, seeing 20–25 orthopedic patients per day
• Perform casting, splinting, DME application, and joint injections
• Round on patients in the hospital setting on mornings and occasional weekends
• Collaborate with surgical team on OR days and handle administrative duties on designated days
