About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant to work out of their Manchester, CT Health Center. This role involves providing direct patient care, supporting training, and ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. PPSNE is a leading provider of reproductive health care and sexual health education, committed to social justice and shaping the future of sexual health and reproductive rights. The organization has 15 health centers in CT and RI, serving nearly 70,000 patients annually. Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Nurse Midwife training program or Medical School.
  • Appropriate professional certification (ANCC, NCC, ACNM, NCCPA or MD).
  • Active (or eligible candidate for) Licensure in good standing (State Medical License, Controlled Substance Registration, DEA).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Superb attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain systems to facilitate workflow.
  • Demonstrate skills prioritizing and organizing workload.
  • Ability to handle discreet, confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures high quality direct patient interactions based on empathy and understanding of diverse experiences.
  • Performs physical exams, orders and/or performs appropriate laboratory testing, and recognizes deviations from normal.
  • Performs and interprets limited pelvic ultrasound.
  • Implements individualized patient care plans, including patient education and referral, in compliance with PPSNE medical policies.
  • Initiates tracking of abnormal results and referrals.
  • Completes patient care documentation in the medical record in a timely and complete manner.
  • Maintains appropriate billing and coding practices.
  • Completes follow-up on laboratory and imaging results per PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines.
  • Provides medication abortion and participates in the evaluation and management of patients receiving procedural abortion services.
  • Maintains clinical quality assurance standards as set forth by PPSNE.
  • Recognizes the boundaries of one's own knowledge and utilizes appropriate channels for support.
  • Participates in providing all medical services offered by PPSNE after appropriate training and privileging.
  • Supports the agency’s mission and all offered sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, preventative health screenings, STI testing and treatment, birth control, gender-affirming care, and abortion services.
  • Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies, and standard practices in areas of customer service, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA).
  • Maintains active licenses and certifications required for the role (state medical license, DEA license, BLS Certification).
  • Partners with the Center Manager in supervision of clinical care and training of Clinic Assistants and volunteers.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Participates in the training of other clinicians and precepts medical learners in consultation with leadership.
  • Supports a culture of feedback, being open to giving and receiving feedback.
  • Works collaboratively with volunteers to achieve the agency’s mission.
  • Meets goals and key performance indicators for patient access to care within PPSNE’s care team models.
  • Participates effectively in health center efforts to achieve patient access and revenue cycle goals.

  • Contributes to quality improvement goals and activities.
