About The Position

American Family Care (AFC) is hiring a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide urgent care in an outpatient setting. The role offers a shift-based schedule, with rotating weekends and holidays, and is part of a collaborative clinical team. The provider will care for patients of all ages, evaluate and treat acute conditions, infections, and injuries, and perform minor procedures. The role also includes conducting physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, counseling patients, documenting care, and collaborating with supervising physicians and other team members. The position has no overnight shifts or call.

Requirements

• Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) with an active state license, or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) with an active state license.
• At least 2 years of experience in urgent care, family medicine, or emergency care.
• Skilled in urgent care procedures and comfortable in a fast-paced clinic.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered mindset.
• Active BLS certification, or ability to obtain it within the defined onboarding period.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting.
• Manage acute conditions, infections, and injuries.
• Perform minor procedures, including suturing, splinting, and incision and drainage.
• Conduct comprehensive physicals, including DOT and employment exams.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs.
• Counsel patients on care plans and preventive health strategies.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians and team members to ensure quality care.
