About The Position

For inpatient assignments, assists the attending physician with the care and management of patients on inpatient units within the hospital. This includes making patient rounds, contributing to decisions about daily care, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and facilitating and coordinating the scheduling of therapeutic and diagnostic tests and procedures. Makes frequent bedside visits to assess patient status and direct care accordingly. May also see patients in the clinic environment.

For clinic assignments, works under the supervision of an attending physician to provide diagnostic and therapeutic health care coverage. Duties include taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, coordinating laboratory tests and diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, and assisting patients with treatment plans and education. Other duties may include sharing call hours, providing phone coverage, and seeing admitted patients in the hospital.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Meet Medical Staff Office requirements to obtain and retain privileges to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner within UF Health Shands Hospital and/or the Shands UF Healthcare Network, as applicable.
• Current and clear Florida license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Nurse Practitioner.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities
