The APP provides ongoing medical and developmental evaluation and consultation through telehealth to support the transition home, working closely with inpatient NICU providers during the first six months after discharge and before routine follow-up in the High-Risk Infant Follow Up clinic. The APP role is part of a collaborative team of attending physicians, fellows, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Credentialed procedures may include intubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion and removal, peritoneal dialysis drain placement, and pacing wire removal. Nurse Practitioners work under the applicable standardized process protocol and in collaboration with supervising physicians. The role requires practice within the APP’s education, training, experience, and demonstrated competence, with consultation or referral to a physician when needed. APPs evaluate and treat patients, obtain histories and perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, administer or prescribe medications within their authorized scope, coordinate care, provide patient and family education, participate in quality improvement, and comply with applicable clinical, legal, regulatory, safety, and hospital requirements. Supervision may include direct supervision, chart review and audits, and ongoing professional practice evaluation. The position is not remote eligible. It is benefits eligible and scheduled for 24 hours per week on a day shift.
