Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Vascular Neurology
About The Position
Vascular Neurology Advanced Practice Provider or Physician Assistant is primarily an outpatient position, with PRN coverage of inpatient Vascular Neurology service and will require Advanced Neurovascular Practitioner Board Certification. The role involves performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, determining and initiating treatment plans, prescribing medications, documenting patient information in electronic medical records, educating patients and families, and consulting with other healthcare providers. The position also requires staying current with medical research and trends and supporting research projects.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License and CPR, required
- National certification required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a previous clinical nursing role, required
Nice To Haves
- Netsmart certification preferred
- must attain ANVP board certification
- Previous experience in Vascular Neurology preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses
- Order and perform diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory tests
- Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary
- Prescribe and dispense medications
- Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records
- Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care, and encourage and promote preventative health care and positive health behaviors
- Request consultation or referral with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics
- Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends, and support research projects
