About The Position

The Vascular Neurology Advanced Practice Provider or Physician Assistant position is primarily an outpatient role with PRN coverage of the inpatient Vascular Neurology service. This role requires Advanced Neurovascular Practitioner Board Certification. The position involves performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, determining and initiating treatment plans, prescribing medications, documenting patient medical information in electronic records, and educating patients and families on health issues and preventative care. The role also includes requesting consultations and referrals, and staying current with medical research and trends.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License and CPR, required
  • National certification required
  • Must attain ANVP board certification
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a previous clinical nursing role, required

Nice To Haves

  • Netsmart certification preferred
  • Previous experience in Vascular Neurology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory tests
  • Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary
  • Prescribe and dispense medications
  • Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records
  • Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care, and encourage and promote preventative health care and positive health behaviors
  • Request consultation or referral with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics
  • Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends, and support research projects
