About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services. This includes supervising general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving all organ systems, providing immunizations, and diagnosing, treating, and counseling patients as indicated. The role also involves promoting preventive care and health maintenance, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling. The NP/PA will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems, including the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. The scope of practice includes ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, performing those tests and procedures when using health care equipment, and interpreting and using the results. It also includes ordering treatments, applying appropriate medical devices, and using nursing, medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status. Providing advanced counseling, patient education, health education, and patient advocacy are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Must have certification through the AANP/NCCPA
  • Must have a current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
  • Must have a current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification by the American Heart Association or the client
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in the clinical areas of primary care
