Requirements

  • Surgical experience, ideally in neurosurgery or another high-acuity surgical specialty
  • Confidence in the operating room and the ability to balance clinic, rounding, and perioperative responsibilities
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach and an interest in continued learning
  • Eligibility for Physician Assistant licensure in New Mexico
  • For Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and ANCC or AANP certification required.
  • For Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required.

  • Minimum of one year experience preferred but not required (for both NP and PA roles)

Responsibilities

  • Manage preoperative and postoperative patients in the outpatient neurosurgery clinic
  • Conduct inpatient rounding, consultations, and postoperative follow-up care
  • Provide first-assist support in the operating room, preferred but not required, alongside Neurosurgeons using advanced neurosurgical technology and dedicated block time
  • Collaborate with Neurosurgeons, ICU teams, the Stroke Program, Hospital Medicine providers, and ancillary staff to coordinate seamless patient care
  • Deliver comprehensive care throughout the patient journey, from clinic evaluation and surgical intervention to inpatient management and recovery
  • Work with dedicated RN and Medical Assistant support to improve efficiency and optimize the patient experience
  • Contribute to a team-based practice focused on high-quality outcomes and exceptional, human-centered care
