As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide advanced inpatient care for cardiothoracic transplant patients, including preop orders and postoperative care for heart and lung transplant patients. This role involves participation in the Heart Failure/Shock team protocols and supporting surgical elements of the lung and heart transplant programs, working closely with the Advanced Pulmonary/ECMO program and Heart Failure/MCS programs. The position also supports ECMO specialists and VAD specialists, and includes participation in daily rounding, multidisciplinary rounds, and review for appropriate billing. Clinical management of advanced therapies such as Impella, ECMO, and LVAD is a key responsibility, along with complex wound management, chest tubes, pacing wires, sternal closure monitoring, and participation in bedside procedures. The role is based at an ECMO Center of Excellence and Level 1 Trauma Center. Outpatient participation is expected for patient work-up and continuity of care, including preoperative evaluation for heart and lung transplant patients (VAD and transplant candidacy), participation in transplant selection conferences, and coordinating care from inpatient to outpatient transplant clinic.
