Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner
About The Position
Fairweather is seeking experienced Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners for a unique opportunity to provide high-quality medical care in remote Alaskan locations. Providers work rotational schedules, typically two weeks on and two weeks off, offering significant time off throughout the year. This role allows for independent clinical practice with support from an experienced medical team and Medical Director. The remote clinics serve Alaska’s workforce, offering a mix of acute care, occupational medicine, emergency response, and stabilization services. Opportunities are available for both regular rotational positions and flexible fill-in assignments.
Requirements
- Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner eligible to practice in Alaska.
- Current NCCPA or applicable NP national certification.
- Active DEA registration.
- Current BLS and ACLS.
- Three or more years of experience in family medicine, internal medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or a comparable clinical setting.
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- Remote, rural, occupational health, or emergency medicine experience.
- ATLS or similar trauma training.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site medical provider for employees in remote locations.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries.
- Provide occupational medical care.
- Assess and stabilize medical emergencies and trauma.
- Determine the need for a higher level of care or medical evacuation.
- Coordinate patient transport and MEDEVAC when appropriate.
- Perform point-of-care laboratory testing, ECGs, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Prescribe and dispense medications within the scope of practice and collaborative agreement.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and required occupational health documentation.
- Participate in site safety, emergency response, and medical preparedness activities.
