Requirements

• Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body.
• Nurse Practitioner candidates must hold Acute Care certification (ACNP or AGACNP).
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
• Must hold American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing and medical care to critically ill cardiac patients in the intensive care setting.
• Performs comprehensive assessments.
• Establishes medical diagnoses.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests.
• Initiates and manages therapeutic interventions.
• Coordinates care in collaboration with the cardiovascular critical care team.
• Practice is conducted in accordance with Georgia Board of Nursing regulations, institutional policies, and the NP’s education, training, certification, and granted clinical privileges.
