About The Position
This is a Locum Tenens position providing inpatient cardiothoracic surgery coverage in Topeka, KS. The role involves clinical duties from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 24-hour weekend call every other weekend. The Nurse Practitioner will manage adult cardiothoracic surgery patients, perform endovascular vein harvesting, and participate in floor and weekend call coverage. The position requires documentation within the Epic EMR system. Support staff includes 2 APRNs, and backup is available from the Cardiovascular Service Line.
Requirements
- Active Nurse Practitioner License Required
- Endovascular Vein Harvest Competency Required

- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner Preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient cardiothoracic surgery coverage
- Perform endovascular vein harvesting for cardiac surgery cases
- Manage heart, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients
- Participate in floor call and weekend call coverage
- Document patient care activities within Epic EMR
- Teach two new APPs Endovascular Vein Harvest Techniques
