About The Position

Join a growing pediatric care team at Massachusetts General Hospital and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families across our communities. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions. This role involves providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. The position may also include additional duties such as precepting a small group of learners. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position with a Monday-Friday schedule. Prior pediatric experience is preferred, either as a Registered Nurse (RN) or APP (NP/PA). New graduate candidates are not being considered at this time.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Nursing required
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - MA
  • 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience
  • 1-2 years required
  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior pediatric experience preferred, either as a Registered Nurse (RN) or APP (NP/PA)

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
  • Manage your own patient panel and provide comprehensive pediatric care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team committed to exceptional patient outcomes.
