Requirements

  • Active Louisiana APRN license with Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) designation OR Active Louisiana PA license with Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME)
  • National certification through ANCC or AANP OR Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Collaborative Practice Agreement with a licensed physician as required by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing OR Collaborative Practice Agreement with a licensed physician as required by the Louisiana State Board of Medicine
  • Current DEA license if prescribing controlled substances
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and diagnostic tools
  • Strong communication skills
  • Empathy and customer-centricity in patient interactions
  • Commitment to completing 20+ hours of continuing education annually, including state-mandated requirements

Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive patient assessments, gathering medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
  • Interpreting diagnostic tests and collaborating with cardiologists to develop effective treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Providing patient education on cardiovascular health, medications, and lifestyle modifications, fostering a strong patient-provider relationship.
  • Documenting patient interactions in our electronic health record system, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participating in team meetings to discuss patient progress and innovative practices.
  • Engaging in continuous learning to stay updated on cardiology advancements.
