About The Position

Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their dynamic Surgical Oncology team within the Division of Surgery. Baptist MD Anderson is a premier cancer center that combines the strengths of Baptist Health with the expertise of MD Anderson Cancer Center. As one of only seven health systems in the country selected to replicate MD Anderson’s proven model of care, it offers providers the best of both worlds: academic-caliber oncology care within a patient-centered, community-based setting. A new 330,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility dedicated solely to oncology care has opened to enhance the patient experience and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will support the Section of Surgical Oncology and should have experience or a strong interest in oncology and surgical specialties.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Providing care for patients with malignant and complex conditions of the gastrointestinal tract (including liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and stomach), skin, and soft tissues (including melanoma and sarcoma)
  • First-assistant in the OR (robot, laparoscopic, open cases)
  • Rounding on patients in the acute post-operative phase who are admitted to the hospital for surgical oncology and colorectal surgery
  • Post-operative wound care and pain management
  • Timely collaboration with consulting physicians
  • Coordinating discharges from the hospital
  • Evaluation of new consults
  • Evaluates new and existing patients in collaboration with staff physicians, as well as a multidisciplinary team, completes outpatient documentation in a timely fashion, and performs clinic procedures as applicable.
